at the heart of things

Rapsfelder

In the middle of the green heart of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern lies North Germany’s most unspoilt stretch of countryside – Mecklenburg’s Switzerland.

This "Switzerland" in Mecklenburg is rather gentle in character. The chains of hills stretch away in soft curves. The seemingly unending shadowy tunnels formed by the ancient avenues lead you from one place to another. Great megalithic graves, reminders of the early history of this area, await your discovery. Large tracts of woodland, meadows and pasture, and rare plants, animals and moorlands are the signs of an intact natural world. Small romantic manor houses and castles weave a spell out of the splendour of bygone ages and are living proof that our ancestors also set great store by the beauty of this countryside. The same is true of the landscape gardens surrounding the noble castles of Basedow and Remplin, which are the work of the famous landscape architect Peter Joseph Lenné.

Whether you want to ride a bike or a horse, to go for a walk or a swim, to go angling, sailing or surfing, or to enjoy art and culture – our beautiful countryside offers pure relaxation and plenty of opportunity to leave your troubles behind.

Getreidefeld mit Mohnblüte

Here, holidaymakers discover a fascinating part of Germany – unique worlds of experience. Holidays on the water; cycling along the Ice-Age trail; enjoying the unblemished natural world, for example the thousand-year-old oak trees at Ivenack; absorbing art and culture in all the variety of its forms: Brick-Gothic churches, city gates and store houses, artists’ workshops and studios, museums and galleries. You can get to know people and places at first class concerts in castles and manor houses or at town and village festivals. Walking tours trace the footsteps of well-known artists and writers such as Ernst Barlach, Uwe Johnson and Fritz Reuter, or take you through the wonderful landscape of the water gap vallies. Enjoy bathing in the many lakes or relish the peace and tranquillity of angling. Go sightseeing on excursions to the ancient Hanseatic cities of Stralsund, Rostock, Wismar and Greifswald. Berlin and Hamburg are also within easy reach for day trips.

You can find your personal holiday base in the middle of the green world of nature in holiday homes and flats on one of the many large or small lakes. There’s something on offer for every taste: small hotels and guest houses, holidays in elegant manor houses and castles.

We are pleased to organize individual holiday packages tailored to meet your personal wishes.
